Sports Unlimited Funding

The sports unlimited grant is funding targeted for children and young people, which are semi sporty or non-sporty people.
Semi Sporty would be defined as ‘people who are interested in sport, but don’t interact in sport in the community or at a club.’
The idea of the sports unlimited grant is to provide support to local sports providers to run a 10 week taster course that encourages children and young people to participate in sport in there community or nearby club. Sport England is aiming to target 900,000 youngsters to participate in the sports unlimited scheme and a third of which (300,000) would hopefully commit to their chosen sport. Majority of the programmes been funded so far are mainly based around Malton, Norton and Pickering but several activities have been delivered in rural areas such as Gillamoor.

If you are interested in applying for the Sports Unlimited funding you can download an application form from the website below:

NHS Change 4 Life - Get Involved!
Written by Chris Chatten

Change 4 life, the new NHS scheme to encourage us all to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle. Nowadays there are so many opportunities to sit and watch TV, or surf the internet, or to play on games consoles, that we no longer move around as much. And with so much fast-food and junk food available to us, we don't eat as well as we used to either. This means that 9 out of 10 kids growing up now could end up with dangerous amounts of fat in their bodies, and be at high risk of things such as diabetes, heart disease or even cancer. So step up to the mark. Make a change. Nearly 400,000 families have joined this scheme, and it could help you too. Head to http://www.nhs.uk/change4life/Pages/Default.aspx and send off for your free information pack, or fill out the questionaire and recieve your own free personalised action plan.
